About Disodium Laureth-6 Sulfosuccinate

Disodium Laureth-6 Sulfosuccinate is the disodium salt of the lauryl alcohol half ester of ethoxylated sulfosuccinic acid.[1] The number 6 at the end of the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. It changes the balance between water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, increase the amount of foam and help it last longer, and help ingredients that do not dissolve well in water disperse more evenly in the water phase.[2] It is also used to reduce surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
