About Disodium Lauramido PEG-5 Sulfosuccinate

Disodium Lauramido PEG-5 Sulfosuccinate is the disodium salt of the monolauryl amide of the ethoxylated half-ester of sulfosuccinic acid.[1] The number 5 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; within the same base structure, changing this number may also change water compatibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, form foam during use, and help ingredients that do not dissolve well in water disperse more evenly in the water phase.[2] It is also used to reduce surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
