Disodium Distyrylbiphenyl Disulfonate is an ester in which parts derived from acids and alcohols are bonded.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce hair tangling and roughness for smoother manageability, lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly, and reduce changes to the product and formula ingredients caused by ultraviolet radiation.[2] It is also used to adjust the viscosity and flow of formulations.[2]
