Disodium Cetyl Phenyl Ether Disulfonate is the disodium salt of the reaction product of a sulfonated diphenyl ether containing α-hexadecene.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, create an emulsion in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and help ingredients that are poorly soluble in water disperse more evenly in the aqueous phase.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and disperse evenly.[2]
