About Disodium C12-14 Sec-Pareth-9 Sulfosuccinate
Disodium C12-14 Sec-Pareth-9 Sulfosuccinate has an average ethoxylation value of 9.[1] It is the disodium salt of a synthetic mixture of secondary C12-14 alcohols partially esterified with sulfosuccinic acid. The number 9 at the end of the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; it changes the balance between water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, increase the amount of foam and help it last longer, and help ingredients that do not dissolve readily in water disperse more evenly in the water phase.[2] It is also used to leave the skin surface soft and smooth and to reduce surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and disperse evenly.[2]
