About Disodium C12-14 Sec-Pareth-7 Sulfosuccinate
Disodium C12-14 Sec-Pareth-7 Sulfosuccinate has an average ethoxylation value of 7.[1] It is the disodium salt of a synthetic mixture of secondary C12-14 alcohols partially esterified with sulfosuccinic acid. The number 7 at the end of the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units, changing the balance between water-loving and oil-loving portions and resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, increase the amount of foam and help it resist collapsing, and help water-insoluble ingredients disperse more evenly in the water phase.[2] It is also used to leave the skin’s surface feeling soft and smooth and to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
