About Disodium C12-14 Sec-Pareth-3 Sulfosuccinate

Disodium C12-14 Sec-Pareth-3 Sulfosuccinate has an average ethoxylation value of 3.[1] It is the disodium salt of a synthetic secondary C12-14 alcohol mixture partially esterified with sulfosuccinic acid. The number 3 at the end of the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; it changes the balance between water-loving and oil-loving portions, affecting cleansing, emulsifying performance, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, increase the amount of foam and help it persist, and help ingredients that do not dissolve readily in water disperse more evenly in the water phase.[2] It is also used to leave the skin's surface soft and smooth and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
