About Disodium C12-14 Sec-Pareth-12 Sulfosuccinate
Disodium C12-14 Sec-Pareth-12 Sulfosuccinate has an average ethoxylation value of 12.[1] It is the disodium salt of a synthetic secondary C12-14 alcohol mixture partially esterified with sulfosuccinic acid. The number 12 at the end of the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; it changes the balance between water-attracting and oil-attracting portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, increase the amount of foam and help it persist, and help poorly water-soluble ingredients disperse more evenly in the aqueous phase.[2] It is also used to leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth and to reduce surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
