About Disodium C12-14 Pareth-4 Sulfosuccinate

Disodium C12-14 Pareth-4 Sulfosuccinate is an ester containing parts derived from an acid and an alcohol.[1] The number 4 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units; it changes the balance between water-loving and fat-loving parts, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, to increase the amount of foam and help it resist collapsing easily, and to dissolve other raw materials to create a uniform formulation.[1] It is also used to lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[1]
