About Dipropyl Oxalate

Dipropyl Oxalate is a diester of propyl alcohol and oxalic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to bind metal ions to reduce their effects on color, fragrance, and formula stability, add flexibility so films or polymer layers do not become excessively hard, and dissolve other raw materials to create a uniform formula.[3] In Europe, it may be used at up to 5% in finished hair products.[2]
