About Dioleyl Phosphate

Dioleyl Phosphate is a complex ester mixture of oleyl alcohol and phosphoric acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to buffer the formulation so its acidity does not change abruptly, to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to help prevent the emulsion from separating easily.[2] It is also used to reduce tangling and a rough feel in hair, leaving it smooth and manageable, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
