About Dimethyl Stearamine

Dimethyl Stearamine is a tertiary aliphatic amine that mainly has the following structure.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and reduce tangling and a rough feel in the hair for smoother grooming.[3] In Europe, the maximum concentration is 2.5% in leave-on products, while no separate maximum concentration is set for rinse-off products. In addition, nitrosamines must not exceed 50 μg/kg.[2]
