About Dimethyl Phthalate

Dimethyl Phthalate is a diester of methyl alcohol and phthalic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to form a thin film on the skin, hair, or nail surface after application, prevent the characteristic odor or taste of an ingredient from becoming too pronounced, and add flexibility so films or polymer layers do not become excessively rigid.[2] It is also used to dissolve other ingredients and create a uniform formula.[2]
