About Dimethicone PEG-8 Polyacrylate

Dimethicone PEG-8 Polyacrylate is a siloxane polymer obtained through the free-radical polymerization of PEG-8 dimethicone esterified with acrylic acid.[1] The number 8 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. For the same base structure, changing this number may affect water dispersibility and the formulation’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to form a thin film on the skin, hair, and nail surfaces after application; add flexibility so that the film or polymer layer does not become excessively rigid; and lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
