About Dimethicone PEG-8 Borageate
Dimethicone PEG-8 Borageate is a partial ester of PEG-8 Dimethicone and fatty acids derived from borage seed oil.[1] The number 8 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; within the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formulation’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, reduce tangling and roughness in hair for smoother manageability, and leave the skin surface soft and smooth.[2]
