About Dimethicone PEG-8 Avocadoate
Dimethicone PEG-8 Avocadoate is a partial ester of PEG-8 dimethicone and fatty acids derived from avocado oil.[1] The number 8 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; within the same base structure, changing this number may alter water miscibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and reduce tangling and roughness in hair for a smoother finish.[2] It is also used to leave the skin’s surface feeling soft and smooth.[2]
