About Dimethicone PEG-7 Undecylenate

Dimethicone PEG-7 Undecylenate is a partial ester of PEG-7 Dimethicone and undecylenic acid.[1] The number 7 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. Within the same base structure, changes in this number may affect water miscibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, reduce tangling and rough feel in hair for a smoother finish, and leave the skin’s surface soft and smooth.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
