Dimethicone PEG-7 Olivate is a partial ester of PEG-7 Dimethicone and fatty acids derived from olive oil.[1] The number 7 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; within the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formulation's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, reduce hair tangling and roughness for a smoother finish, and leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth.[2]
