About Dimethicone PEG-7 Cocoate
Dimethicone PEG-7 Cocoate is a partial ester of PEG-7 Dimethicone and coconut acid.[1] The number 7 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; within the same base structure, changing this number can also change water miscibility and the formulation’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on skin or hair and add a smooth feel, to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to reduce hair tangling and roughness for a smooth, conditioned finish.[2] It is also used to leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth and to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
