About Dimethicone/PEG-15 Crosspolymer

Dimethicone/PEG-15 Crosspolymer is a polymer of Dimethicone crosslinked with PEG-15 Diallyl Ether.[1] The number 15 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. For the same base structure, changing this number can affect water miscibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce the prominence of unpleasant odors, help keep emulsions of water and oil from separating, and leave the skin’s surface feeling soft and smooth.[2] It is also used to reduce surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly and to control the formula’s viscosity and flow.[2]
