About Dimethicone/PEG-10 Crosspolymer

Dimethicone/PEG-10 Crosspolymer is a polymer of dimethylpolysiloxane crosslinked with diallyl PEG-10.[1] The number 10 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; within the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formulation's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly blended, and leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly, and to adjust the viscosity and flow of a formulation.[2]
