About Diisopropyl Oxalate

Diisopropyl oxalate is a diester of isopropyl alcohol and oxalic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to bind metal ions and reduce their effects on color, fragrance, and formula stability; add flexibility so films or polymer layers do not become excessively rigid; and dissolve other ingredients to create a uniform formula.[3] In Europe, it may be used at up to 5% in finished cosmetic hair products.[2]
