About Diisopropyl Adipate

Diisopropyl Adipate is a diester of isopropyl alcohol and adipic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, to prevent the raw material’s characteristic odor or taste from becoming too prominent, and to add flexibility so that films or polymer layers do not become excessively rigid.[2] It is also used to leave the skin’s surface feeling soft and smooth and to dissolve other raw materials to create a uniform formulation.[2]
