About Diisobutyl Oxalate

Diisobutyl Oxalate is the diester of isobutyl alcohol and oxalic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to bind metal ions and reduce their effects on color, fragrance, and formulation stability; to add flexibility so films or polymer layers do not become excessively rigid; and to dissolve other ingredients, creating a uniform formulation.[3] In Europe, it may be used at up to 5% in finished cosmetic products for hair.[2]
