Dihydroxyisopropyl Palmoylpalmamide is a substituted amide formed by the reaction of palm oil ketone dimer and 2-amino-1,3-propanediol.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce tangling and rough feel in hair for smooth conditioning, attract water to the formula and skin surface to help maintain a moisturized feel, and leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth.[2] It is also used to help protect the skin from external factors.[2] It primarily has the following structure, in which R and R' are derived from palm oil.[1]
