About Diethylhexyl Sebacate

Diethylhexyl Sebacate is a diester of 2-ethylhexyl alcohol and sebacic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, to form a thin film on the surface of the skin, hair, or nails after application, and to prevent the characteristic odor or taste of raw materials from becoming too pronounced.[2] It is also used to add flexibility so that films or polymer layers do not become excessively hard and to dissolve other raw materials to create a uniform formulation.[2]
