About Dicocodimonium Chloride

Dicocodimonium Chloride is a quaternary ammonium salt, and R is an alkyl group obtained from coconut oil.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and reduce tangling and rough feel in the hair and smooth it into place.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
