Dicetyl phosphate is a complex mixture of diesters of cetyl alcohol and phosphoric acid.[1] Its solubility and charge state vary depending on the salt-forming ingredients and the formulation's acidity, and this also affects how it interacts with other raw materials. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so that raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
