About Dibutyl Sebacate

Dibutyl Sebacate is a diester of butyl alcohol and sebacic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction and add a smooth feel to skin or hair, to form a thin film on the surface of skin, hair, or nails after application, and to reduce tangling and roughness in hair and leave it feeling soft and manageable.[2] It is also used to keep the characteristic odor or taste of raw materials from becoming overly prominent, to add flexibility so films or polymer layers do not become excessively rigid, and to leave the skin's surface feeling soft and smooth.[2] It is used to dissolve other raw materials and create a uniform formula.[2]
