About Di-Tea-Oleamido PEG-2 Sulfosuccinate
Di-Tea-Oleamido PEG-2 Sulfosuccinate is the diethanolamine salt of the monooleylamide of the diglycol half ester of sulfosuccinic acid.[1] The number 2 indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; with the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, increase the amount of foam and help it last, and help ingredients that do not dissolve well in water disperse more evenly in the water phase.[3] It is also used to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, the maximum concentration is 2.5% in leave-on products, with no separate maximum concentration specified for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
