Di-PPG-3 Myristyl Ether Adipate is a diester of propoxylated myristyl alcohol and adipic acid.[1] The number 3 after PPG indicates the average number of linked propylene oxide units. This number and the type of fatty component attached to it affect how well it mixes with oils and the feel on application. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel; to form a thin film on the surface of the skin, hair, or nails after application; and to leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth.[2] It is also used to dissolve other raw materials and create a uniform formula.[2]
