Dehydroacetic Acid is a cyclic ketone.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in a product and slow deterioration during storage.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted at up to 0.6% based on acid content.[2] However, it cannot be used in aerosol spray products.[2]
