About Decyl Betaine
Decyl Betaine is a zwitterion (inner salt).[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, help sebum and impurities wash away with water, and increase the amount of foam while helping it remain stable. It is also used to reduce tangling and rough feel in hair for smooth grooming, to leave the skin’s surface feeling soft and smooth, and to lower surface tension so that raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2] It is used to adjust the viscosity and flow of formulas.[2] [2]
