About Coconut Alcohol

Coconut Alcohol is a mixture of fatty alcohols derived from coconut acids.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to help prevent emulsified mixtures of water and oil from separating easily.[2] It is also used to increase the amount of foam and help it remain stable, to help the formula retain its state and properties during storage, and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2] It is used to adjust the formula's viscosity and flow.[2]
