Coceth-20 is a polyethylene glycol ether of coconut alcohol in which R is a fatty alcohol derived from coconut oil and n has an average value of 20.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
