About Cocamine

Cocamine is a primary aliphatic amine derived from coconut oil.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together and to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[3] It primarily has the following structure, in which R is an alkyl group derived from coconut oil.[1] In Europe, the secondary amine content of finished products is limited to a maximum of 0.5%, and nitrosamine content must not exceed 50 μg/kg.[2]
