About Cocamidoethyl Betaine
Cocamidoethyl Betaine is an amphoteric ion (zwitterion), and its fatty acid component is derived from coconut oil.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, and increase the amount of foam and help it resist collapsing.[2] It is also used to reduce tangling and roughness for smoother-looking hair, lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly, and control the formulation’s viscosity and flow.[2]
