About Cholesterol

Cholesterol is a monounsaturated secondary alcohol of the cyclopentanoperhydrophenanthrene system.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth.[2] It is also used to help prevent easy changes in the condition and properties of the formula during storage and to control the formula's viscosity and flow.[2]
