About Cetylpyridinium Chloride

Cetylpyridinium Chloride is a quaternary ammonium salt.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms, reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, and reduce the prominence of unpleasant odors.[2] It is also used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, to smooth hair by reducing tangling and rough feel, and to keep the teeth and mouth clean and fresh.[2] It is used to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
