About Cetyl PEG/PPG-7/3 Dimethicone

Cetyl PEG/PPG-7/3 Dimethicone is a copolymer of an alkoxylated derivative of dimethicone containing an average of 7 moles of ethylene oxide and 3 moles of propylene oxide, and cetyl dimethicone.[1] The number 7 after PPG indicates the average number of linked propylene oxide units. This number and the type of fatty component attached to it affect how well it mixes with oils and its application feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, help prevent separation, and lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
