About Cetrimonium Chloride

Cetrimonium Chloride is a quaternary ammonium salt.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to inhibit microbial growth, reduce static that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, and create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[3] It is also used to inhibit microbial proliferation in the product and delay deterioration during storage, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted up to 0.1%.[2]
