About Cetrimonium Bromide

Cetrimonium Bromide is a quaternary ammonium salt.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms, reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, and create emulsion formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[3] It is also used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in products to slow deterioration during storage, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted at up to 0.1%.[2]
