About Ceteartrimonium Chloride

Ceteartrimonium Chloride is a quaternary ammonium salt.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that can cause hair strands to lift or stick together, to detangle hair and reduce a rough feel for smoother grooming, and to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in the product, helping delay deterioration during storage.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted at up to 0.1%.[2]
