About Ceteareth-7
Ceteareth-7 is the polyethylene glycol ether of cetostearyl alcohol.[1] The number 7 at the end of the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. By changing the balance between the water-attracted and oil-attracted parts, it creates differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
