About Ceteareth-22
Ceteareth-22 is the polyethylene glycol ether of cetearyl alcohol.[1] The number 22 at the end of the name refers to the average number of ethylene oxide units added. It changes the balance between the water-loving and oil-loving parts, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and skin feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly, and adjust the formula’s viscosity and flow.[2]
