About Ceteareth-13
Ceteareth-13 is a polyethylene glycol ether of cetearyl alcohol.[1] The number 13 at the end of the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. It changes the balance between the water-attracting and oil-attracting portions, resulting in differences in cleansing, emulsifying performance, and skin feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
