About Ceteareth-12
Ceteareth-12 is the polyethylene glycol ether of cetearyl alcohol.[1] The number 12 at the end of the name refers to the average number of ethylene oxide units added. It changes the balance between the water-loving and fat-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing ability, emulsifying performance, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
