About Ceteareth-100
Ceteareth-100 is a polyethylene glycol ether of cetearyl alcohol.[1] The number 100 at the end of the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. It changes the balance between water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water and to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
