About Cerebrosides

Cerebrosides are sphingolipids isolated from the central nervous system and brain of animals. However, this ingredient is not derived from cattle from Great Britain or Northern Ireland, BSE-infected tissue, ingredients containing such tissue, or specified-risk materials from cattle, sheep, goats, or other ruminants from areas where mad cow disease has been reported (18 specified body parts).[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth, and protect the skin from external factors.[2]
