About Cellulose Gum

Cellulose gum is the sodium salt of a polycarboxymethyl ether of cellulose.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help ingredients in a formula bind together and maintain its form, prevent emulsions of water and oil from separating easily, and form a thin film on the skin, hair, or nail surface after application.[2] It is also used to keep the characteristic odor or taste of raw materials from becoming overly noticeable and to adjust the formula's viscosity and flow.[2]
